It's the time of the year again....Seeing the blooming flowers and birds chirping. Smelling hot dogs in the air, and the sand between our toes.

Its also the time of the year again to think about sun protection & safe sun exposure. Sunscreen? Doesn't that mean the dreaded bathing suit season is upon us? That being said...lets take a look at some tips to protect your family's and yours skin from what can be damaging rays of the sun.

1.) Sun exposure is healthy in very moderate amounts. Our body's can only process Vitamin D with help from the sun. Vitamin D helps build strong bones. Aim for 15-20 minutes per day. This is all that is necessary.

2.) Avoid the sun during the peak hours. 10 A.M to 2 P.M. is when the rays are strongest & hottest. Enjoy outdoor activities before and after this time, if possible.

3.) Yes, you still need sunscreen even when it is cloudy out. The suns ray penetrate even on the dreariest of days.

4.) Look for sunscreen that offers a 15+ SPF. I also suggest looking for more organic brands that contain less amounts harsh chemicals. They work just as well.

5.) Wear sunglasses that have UV protection. Sun is not only very bright without them, but can be damaging to the eyes.

Summertime is full of barbeque's, party's, pools, and lots of fun times outdoors. No one wants to walk around looking like a Lobster the whole time. Enjoy the nice weather, and be gentle to your skin
