AMHERST SENIOR CENTER TO HOST MEDICARE FRAUD SUMMIT PRESENTED BY NYS OFFICE FOR AGING
The Amherst Center for Senior Services will host a free Medicare Fraud Summit, Thursday, Nov.10, from 10am – noon at the Senior Center, presented by the New York State Office for the Aging. The Summit is open to the public.
Every year, taxpayers lose over 60 billion dollars to health care fraud and abuse in the U.S. “Health care fraud” happens when you or your insurance are charged for services that you did not receive or charged for services that are different than the ones you received. Health care fraud takes money out of the pockets of the disabled and senior beneficiaries who have paid into the system for many years and are now in need of coverage.
If you are a senior, family member, caregiver or service provider, this summit is for you. Learn how the Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) project educates Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries on how to recognize and report suspected cases of deceptive health care practices, such as overbilling, overcharging or providing unnecessary or inappropriate services.
Join elected Federal, State and local officials, community leaders, special agents and others like yourself, and learn how each of us can make a difference. Find out how these cases are pursued and the impact your tips and information can have.
You really can make a difference.
Please register to attend by calling the Senior Center at 636-3059.
