Rural Transit Service, a non-profit transportation company, servicing the seniors, disabled and income eligible residents of Erie County is looking for volunteer drivers, dispatchers and driver aides to work one (1) four (4) hour shift one (1) day per week or as seasonal or back-up help. Drivers operate the RTS van while dispatchers answer a one line phone at one (1) of our four (4) sites. Aides help riders on and off the vans and help carry groceries, etc. Dispatchers and Aides can use the RTS to get to and from the volunteer site. Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center
We are currently looking for new volunteers to add to our tremendous family of helpers! If you are age 14 or older, interested in horses and helping people, we're a great fit! No horse experience necessary. We will train all volunteers.
Horse leaders are responsible for the horse during the lessons, helping to lead the horse and rider around the ring. Side walkers work with the rider during the lesson, providing support as needed.
Lessons are offered weekdays and Saturdays at various times throughout each day and evening. We ask volunteers to commit to a weekly schedule for a 4-6 week period and all volunteers are required to attend training and orientation. Canopy of Neighbors is providing much needed services to seniors 62 and older in the area from Richmond Avenue to Main Street and from Delaware Avenue to North Street (zip codes 14222 and 14209).
